Ryan Blaney is an American professional stock car racing driver, who currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 12 Ford Mustang for Team Penske.
Blaney was born on December 31, 1993, in High Point, North Carolina. He grew up in a racing family, with his father Dave Blaney being a former NASCAR Cup Series driver himself. Ryan Blaney began his racing career at a young age, competing in go-karts and progressing through the ranks to eventually race in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2012.
In 2013, Blaney made his debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving in a handful of races for Team Penske. He also continued to race part-time in the Truck Series, picking up his first career win at Pocono Raceway that year.
Blaney made his full-time debut in the Xfinity Series in 2014, driving for Team Penske. He finished the season with one win and eight top-5 finishes, and was named the series’ Rookie of the Year.
In 2015, Blaney moved up to the Cup Series, driving a part-time schedule for Wood Brothers Racing. He made his debut at the Daytona 500, finishing seventh. Blaney also continued to race in the Xfinity Series, winning three races that year.
In 2016, Blaney joined the Wood Brothers Racing full-time, driving the No. 21 Ford Fusion. He picked up his first career Cup Series win at Pocono Raceway that year and finished the season with four top-5 finishes.
In 2018, Blaney joined Team Penske full-time, driving the No. 12 Ford Fusion. He finished the season with a career-high 15 top-10 finishes, including a win at the Charlotte Roval.
Blaney has continued to be a consistent performer in the Cup Series and has become a fan favorite for his outgoing personality and on-track success. He has two wins and 44 top-5 finishes in his Cup Series career so far.
